How to Avoid a Sewer Backup

Sewer cleaning is a chronic problem for many older homes in Tucson. The cause can be roots which is the number one reason for backups, but it also can be brought on by us flushing items down the toilet that we shouldn’t.

For instance, flushable wipes or baby wipes are routinely found in sewer lines. These should never be flushed because they degrade very slowly and will cause clogs.

Feminine hygiene products are also not flushable. They are designed to absorb liquid and swell to a much larger size than they originally started. Plus the attached string can catch onto roots precipitating a back up.

Frankly, the only two things that should be flushed are human waste and toilet paper.
